NOUVEL Strategies partner Jim Herbeck will be the featured speaker at a SANS Information Security Webcast on Apr 19, 3pm CET (9am EST). The topic will be “iPhone Insecurity: 2011 Update”:
Last year was the first SANS iPhone Insecurity webcast. This year, the presentation has been updated to include a review of security problems with the iPhone in the past year, information about security enhancements with iOS 4, and a comparison of security features with other major smartphone operating systems. SANS Information Security Webcasts are web broadcasts, including live audio while viewing presentation slides downloaded in advance. Participation is free, though registration is required. Details can be found at the SANS website.

The Business Information Security Competency Center (CCSIE: le Centre de Compétence pour la Sécurité de l’Information des Entreprises) at the Geneva School of Business Administration (HEG: Haute École de Gestion de Genève) will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday, Sep 28, at 18:30.
There will be a short program during the open house:
- 18:30: Welcome (Rolf Hauri, Director CCSIE, HEG Genève)
- 18:45: The Swiss Legal Framework for Small and Medium Businesses (SMB’s) (Stephane Kronbichler, Kronbichler & Tourette Avocats)
- 19:15: CPI-RISC: A Methodology for Information Security for SMB’s - (Christophe Nemeth and Jim Herbeck, NOUVEL Strategies)
- 19:30: Conclusion and apéritif
During the open house, information will be available on the CCSIE’s educational programs:

Press Release: NOUVEL and the SANS Institute bring CISSP Exam review to Geneva in November

The US-based SANS Institute will be presenting their CISSP exam review course in Geneva on Nov 15-20. The “SANS +S Training Program for the CISSP Certification Exam” is designed as preparation for the Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) exam. The CISSP certification is the most well-known certification for information security professionals.
This accelerated review course assumes the student has a basic understanding of networks and operating systems and focuses solely on the ten domains of knowledge as determined by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2). After completion of the course the student will have a good working knowledge of the ten domains of knowledge.
Over the past 18 months, 98% of all respondents, who attended the SANS +S Training Program for the CISSP Certification Exam and then took the exam passed; compared to a national average of around 70% for other prep courses.
Note: The CISSP exam is NOT provided as part of the training.
The Instructor for the course, Jim Herbeck, is a managing partner and principal consultant at NOUVEL Strategies in Geneva.

The Apple iPhone is rapidly becoming the most popular smartphone in the world.
